New Food for the Pups!

The poodle pups were running out of food, so I went and picked up a new food yesterday - Innova Puppy. I wanted a grain-free food to hopefully help with Tsuki's poops, and I still wanted to keep them on Puppy food for a little while longer. Hopefully we don't have any tummy upsets to the food change as I had *very* little old food left over. I have rice and chicken on standby if needed.

On another note, we're kicking it into high gear regarding training. I've been in a funk ever since getting back in April and I admit the pups don't know very many commands. As soon as I find my folder this afternoon we'll start. And I figured, while we're at it... why not start everyone over (regarding training).

I'm bringing Stryder to a CERF clinic next Sunday (a week from today). For awhile I think he's been having a problem in low-lighting with seeing... but hopefully it's nothing and I'm just a worrisome mom.. and he's just a dope. LOL

Schnauzers are on EVO!

Kiba and Stryder have finally finished the 40lb bag of Diamond Natural Lamb & Rice food I bought back in April. Decided to switch them back to EVO. They are getting the yellow bag, "SMALL BITES" one. I calculated it out... a 13.2lb bag of food should last for 24 days, with each dog eating about 1 cup per day. Bag was $23.99 + tax. The diamond was $26.oo and lasted.... 5 months. LOL. Hopefully it cuts back ALOT on all the pooping outside, and clears up peoples ears and helps getting their coats back to normal.

Poodle have a week or two left of their food, gotta decide what to switch them too. Something that will agree with Tsuki more. Just have to figure if it's because of a certain meat protein, need a food with higher/low protein.. etc. I wish the 9lb bags weren't so expensive as we'd try different ones of those to see how it pans out instead of feeding X food for a how month or two. I was going to switch to a food that they could all eat, but I may wait until the poodles are older/stopped growing.

Last Weekly Weigh-In

The fence has been up for only a month now, and I can't believe how much skinnier everyone is. Less food + more exercise = skinny dogs. LOL. I wish there was a calculator of some sort you could apply to bags of dog food, that would figure out how much food per day each specific dog should have. I need to bulk Tsuki up a bit more. I don't need frozen dog skeletons out in the yard this winter. Which also reminds me, I need to get around to finding some sort of snow pants for when I need to shovel their yard, and so I can go out and play with them. Also need to get around to getting the Poodles their winter coats.

Kiba is 16.5 lbs right now... having lost a total of 3.5 lbs this month!!
Stryder is 20.5 lbs right now... having lost 2.5 lbs!!
Tsuki is 6.5 lbs right now... having lost 0.5 lbs!!
And Lincoln is at 11.5 lbs right now... having lost 0.5 lbs!!

To be fair for the poodles... they just keep freakin growing! Lincoln is now closer to Stryder sized... and is about a head taller than Kiba. Tsuki's got a bit taller as well. She's finally growing into her chest (which both of theirs sprung out last week) and not looking like a body builder anymore. LOL.

Everyone's training is coming along good. Yesterday the poodles starting asking to go outside! Also started their agility training too. Hope to kick it into high-gear soon!!

More Melting!!!!

9/1 Weigh In:

= Kiba has lost 1/2 pound since last week, 1 1/2 pounds total
= Stryder is still 21 1/2 lbs since last week, 1 1/2 pounds total
= Tsuki has gained 1/2 pound since last week, and is back at her starting weight
= Lincoln has gained 1/2 pound since last week, and is a pound heavier than his starting weight.

Tsuki and Lincoln as still skinny as ever... I guess going through another spurt this week. I remember both is teeny little things I could scoop up in one hand. Lincoln is bigger in size than Kiba, almost to Stryder's size. I'm tempted, just for giggles, to register him as a Standard Poodle. LOL

More of the Incredible Melting Dogs!

8/9/09 stats were:
Kiba - 19 pounds
Stryder - 23 pounds
Tsuki - 7 pounds
Lincoln - 11 pounds
Me - X pounds (no I'm not telling you)

8/16/09 stats were
Kiba - 18.5 pounds (-0.5)
Stryder - 22 pounds (-1)
Tsuki - 6 pounds (-1)
Lincoln - 11 pounds
Me - (+2.5 pounds)

Today's stats:
Kiba - 18 pounds (-1 total, -0.5 pounds from last week)
Stryder - 21.5 pounds (-1.5 total, -0.5 pounds from last week)
Tsuki - 6.5 pounds (-0.5 total, +0.05 from last week)
Lincoln - 11.5 pounds (+0.5 total, + 0.5 from last week)

So WOOT! The schnauzers are still loosing, Lincoln has gained 1/2 pounds overall, but last week he had a growth spurt and after a few days looks soo much older *cry* and I've noticed his ribs have sprung out and he looks like a curly red-headed Schnauzer. Tsuki's lost some, which she doesn't need to do, but she's also doing a growth spurt right now and her ribs have sprung as well. And she's not as bony as before, but I still want some meat on her.

They're Melting!!!!

So as of yesterday, the fence has been up for a week. It's soooo much easier just opening the door and kicking them out versus hooking up the schnauzers to the drag line and putting the puppies in the x-pen. Not to mention that the last couple of days Lincoln starting escaping FROM the x-pen... silly dog. No attempts have been made as of yet.

Last Sunday stats were:
Kiba - 19 pounds
Stryder - 23 pounds
Tsuki - 7 pounds
Lincoln - 11 pounds
Me - X pounds (no I'm not telling you)

As of this morning:
Kiba - 18.5 pounds (-0.5)
Stryder - 22 pounds (-1)
Tsuki - 6 pounds (-1)
Lincoln - 11 pounds
Me - (+2.5 pounds)

To be fair, Lincoln feels a bit *thicker* in his upper chest and I think he's doing another growth spurt (he'll be 9 months on the 27th). At this rate, he'll be classified as a Standard versus being a Miniature (go figure from having Toy parents). Tsuki will forever be a toy, not including the fact that she's about 75% stuffed animal anyways... And she just turned 9 months this past Friday. Still waiting for her to go into heat (no, not breeding her).

I'm hoping it starts cooling off soon and that the woods start to die so we can visit our hiking trails. Would love to bring all 4 with me off-leash, but I don't think it's really feasible... hmmm... maybe if I tied a pup to each of the big dogs...

Oh and on a side note, Tsuki has been having less and less accidents in her crate. I think having the fenced-in yard is helping. I'm hoping I can get her a Tsuki-sized crate with this weeks check, and may just go ahead and get a suspended wire floor thing for her. Also no accidents in the house as well, and they are let loose with me for most of the day. Hoping to get a bell soon and hang it on the back door and teach them ringing = going outside to potty.

Trial Socialization

Took everyone to an agility trial yesterday in Deerfield, NH (Bo-Gee trial). Want them to get used to the sounds and smells of it. Wish there were some indoor trials they could attend to, but we'll figure something out.

Schnauzers got uber hot, so they stayed in my friend's RV, they remembered Denise and Todd and were all LOVE ME. Hahaha. Tsuki and Lincoln (think probably because they're not so dark) did ALOT of walking. They were kinda bummed they didn't get to play with anyone (weren't any other puppies, but to be fair it was hot outside..). Lincoln carried the same stick around ALL FREAKIN DAY. It was SO adorable. Even pooped while holding it.

They're still tuckered out today, let them play outside later but won't overdue it. Lincoln only ate part of his breakfast and buried the bowl under a towel.. ah... as I write this he has finished it. Stryder was also being a jerkface and growling at him wanting to get his food (Silly Stryder.. he's in a CRATE. You can't get it... and I highly doubt he's gonna hand it to you...).

Lincoln is finally not barking in his crate when I leave the room! Not sure about long periods... as I'm not home. Tempted to get a web cam soon to see if he is or not. Next gonna work on being quiet if I have Tsuki out (he usually starts barking) and seeing if she'll be quiet vice versa. Also will start on training everyone to ring bell by door to go outside to potty so puppies can have more free time in the house running around other than after going potty, or being in the kitchen (rest of the house is carpeted). And if neither barks when the other leave (even though they are now crated separately) we'll start on commands and such. And doing more work outside on the agility stuff.

Busy busy beavers we are! I'm hoping I find a job soon, but meanwhile I'm having fun chilling with all the dogs every day!
